Chip and IP core supplier Rambus announced today that it has signed an agreement to acquire AnalogX. This acquisition will strengthen Rambus’s PCIe 5.0 and 32G multi-protocol PHY family. AnalogX’s expertise in DSP-based design and PAM4 signals will also accelerate its roadmap for PCIe 6.0 and CXL 3.0 solutions.
Rambus President and CEO Luc Seraphin said, “As the data center shifts to a decentralized model, high-speed connectivity will help to leverage the performance of data-intensive computing platforms. AnalogX's industry-leading PHY and DSP design expertise will help our data center The interconnection chip roadmap provides support and expands our business coverage to new applications in data centers, AI/ML and 5G."

The transaction is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2021. Although considering the closing time of the transaction, the transaction will not have a significant impact on 2021 performance, but Rambus expects the acquisition to achieve value-added in 2022.
